New golfers often worry about golfing etiquette, especially when they play on greens in a foreign land. The dress code is pretty standard, regardless of the country in which the golf club is located. Here are some things you need to know if you are worried about dress codes while golfing in Pattaya.
Most Clubs will Follow General Golfing Etiquette
The standing golfing attire for men includes collared shirts made of cotton, microfiber, or polyester, shorts or pants that are pleated in the front, golfing shoes, socks, and hats to shield you from the sun. The shirts should be tucked into the waist band of the pants but the trousers shouldn’t be tucked into the socks unless the style requires it.
Women’s attire is a little more flexible and they can wear shirts without collars. They can wear skirts as long as they’re of modest length and won’t flare in the wind. They can wear long trousers, dress shorts, capris, and golf skirts or skorts according to their preference as long as the clothing provides suitable protection and is modest.
You can wear special golfing shoes as they’re very comfortable and designed for long games on the green. Some golf courses might allow sneakers or running shoes but that’s not always the case.
What isn’t permitted?
Some clubs are more flexible than others when it comes to their dress codes. However, most clubs won’t permit the items that are mentioned below.
- T-shirts and tank tops
- Jeans, cut-offs, and jean shorts
- Workout sweats
- Sandals, boots, and street shoes
The Club Website Will Have Information
Most golfing clubs in Pattaya have websites and these websites include information about dress codes and restrictions. Some clubs will have specific dress code requirements even when you’re not on the greens. It’s a good idea to consult with our professionals or research the clubs you wish to visit before you book your trip.
You should keep the weather conditions in mind before you pack. Pattaya can be very hot and humid during the summers so you’ll require breathable, light-weight fabric to remain comfortable. Thailand has tropical weather with three seasons; the hot season runs from March to May, the wet season runs from June to October, and the cold winter season runs from November to February. You can place golf in all of these seasons, you just need to pack different kinds of clothing for different weather considers.
If you intend to visit Pattaya between March and May, you should take golf clothes that will protect you from the downpours. A lightweight rain jacket, a cap, and appropriate shoes will allow you to play comfortable during light drizzles. Golfing in the rain can be a unique and interesting experience.
If you intend to visit Pattaya during the winter, you don’t need to pack heavy winter jackets. All you need are a few warm coats and appropriate shirts and undershirts. Wearing layers will keep you warm and ensure your movement isn’t hampered during the game. Bulky winter jackets aren’t needed because wintertime temperatures in Pattaya range from 20°C to 25°C. That’s perfect weather for golfing.
